i happen to run into a couple of elders and one of their bible studies was with them.
after we said our formal greetings to each other we caught up on each other’s history.
somehow the conversation took a turn into politics.

with all the scandals of the organization, it would .
be sound and logical from a human or strategic viewpoint,.
that they loosen the reins of control and be more honest with its members.
A good post a bad analogy, the governing body is not like Artemisia.
I think of them and knorr more like Adolf Hitler at the end of world war II in the bunker.... ranting, and believing in some sort of miracle/weapon would some how some save them from their blood guilt.
i have been having discussion with my sister (relative), who is an active witness, about writing a letter of disassociation.
the reason being is that i have not attended the meetings in over a year and it's been 4 years since i have went out in the jw ministry.. i going to try to sum this topic up.
my sister think that i should not da myself because i have not done any immoral act in her thinking.
I respect all the ways there are to leave the Organization (except suicide) whether it is DA DF or Fade....everyone has different circumstances and should be respected for their choices.
I however chose DA.
Why? Because I felt I had publicly gone into their organization (by way of baptism) I publicly wanted to announce to the world I was leaving it.
Many years before I left the tooth, Bob Brock DA himself. It had a real effect on me. Here was a person who did nothing wrong or sinful who said. "This is not for me guys so good bye" He wasn't expelled he just walked away.
It was one of the many seeds dropped in my head that this church wasn't for everyone.

Jack faded right after Bethel. Both he and his wife Hedy did. They were both "born ins" like me. Towards the end of her life she (not him) would just go to the Memorial, like so many do who don't believe it all or just can't live the life. However after complications of Lyme disease and other things she needed blood.
She said no and died in 2003. Jack took it hard. They had no children. He is doing good now and I just saw him last week in Rhode Island. Friends for life!

Jim died when him and his brother were climbing up the falls. He lost his footing and fell to his death.
Yes that is the time period I was driving my dollar car around.

Funny the first thing I thought of when you said those words and before I read the rest of you post was the word "Hair" lol

In the end back any JW into a corner were they might have to use reason and logic and this catchphrase will kick in.
The magic words that make everything alright, the placebo!
this forum was a lifeline to me when my world was unraveling.
i thought for a while that my experience was unique and my story important.
something close to 20 years have past and my life is happily, largely drama free.
"I referred to the JW Org as a "church" deliberately. Professional councilors say a major step becoming free of the control is dropping the jargon and trigger words."
Well said. Of course they never wanted to call themselves as a "Church" they consider themselves superior to that.
You can call something feces, or excrement but in the end it is still just shit.
They don't like being called a "church" or a "cult" yet the are both.
